Get to know me!
Welcome to Timber's Tales Bookstore, named after my soul dog, the dog I got when I was single in my twenties, still loyally by my side eight years later. This dog has been through it all with me, so I decided to honor her by naming my independently owned bookstore after her. Owning a cozy bookstore has always been a dream of mine but being that we move every few years with the Air Force I'm not able to fulfill a brick-and-mortar vision...just yet, so for now we will remain exclusively online.
Now to introduce myself. My name is Carina, I am 33 years old, serving in the Army National Guard for the last 12 years, while newly navigating the military spouse life as well. I am a freelance editor that works with military spouses, veterans and indie authors. *Insert shameless plug here* If you're interested in working with me send me an email or go to "Contact" to send me a note :) Reading has always been a comfort and escape for my mind. Something that brings me peace and allows me to exit the physical world, if only for a few hours. My first love is fantasy, give me all the witches and magical realms recommendations you have. I'll read them all. Don't ask how long my TBR is. I have always wanted to have magical powers and that began with the one and only Harry Potter series. This is one series I will read every year in October and then rewatch the movie after each book. Don't get me wrong the movies are incredible, but nothing compares to the detail of the books. Feeling the connection to each and every character. Having these books released every year as my reading level steadily increased was part of the magic. I think the millennial generation lucked out by growing up with these books and there won't be another generation to follow that are as die hard about Harry Potter as we are. Don't think I won't try though. I have already introduced my niece to book one. Now that I have successfully gone off on a to be expected tangent let me introduce you to the first theme of my store. Neurotic serenity, aka my brain.
Reading has brought me the serene moments of my life which is what I want to share with the world, especially books written by military and military spouse authors (enter theme number two). My brain goes a million miles a minute stringing together random thoughts that somehow are connected even if I'm the only one that sees the string that connects them. Enter neurosis. So, I decided what feeling would evoke the peacefulness of reading combined with how my brain works? Neurotic serenity. Just because we think 12 different thoughts at once doesn't mean we can't find peace. Serenity is what I want you to find when you enter my bookstore. Let me curate specialty book boxes for you based on a theme of your choosing, let the mystery of what you will receive ignite a fire of excitement that maybe you've been missing. I'm here to recommend books, edit books for new authors, and share the magic of reading in a world that is moving more and more towards AI and visual optics leaving behind the magic of creating that vision within your mind. So, without further ado, welcome to Timber's Tales Bookstore, our grand opening will be on the second-best holiday of the year, Halloween! Happy reading!
